The best route to healthy skin is to take care of what you have. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? The truth is that your skin takes a beating from the environment every single day. Here are some of our favorite tips for keeping your skin fresh and healthy:

1.Stay hydrated, and drink plenty of water! That doesn’t mean soda, caffeine or any other type of liquid even if it is low cal. Soda (even diet soda) has a high concentration of sodium. Sodium retains fluids. You need fluid that will hydrate and flush your body free of toxins. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses a day!

2.Protect your skin from harmful ultra violet (UV) rays. We all love the sun. We love being in it and we love having a beautiful tan. The truth is you can poison yourself with too much sunshine. UV rays cause skin cancer, and if that isn’t bad enough, it causes your skin to age faster than it should, contributing to unsightly wrinkles. If you must play in the sun, make certain you are using an adequate sun screen. Don’t leave home without it!

3.Apply your sun screen even if you only make a quick trip to the grocery store. Yes, you can get harmful UV rays even while driving your car!

4.When you purchase sun screen, make certain you are buying the right tool for the job. There are different types of UV rays and they don’t all affect our skin in the same ways. The time of year also has a bearing on how much damage the sun can do to your skin. Altitude is another important factor. UV rays are more intense at high altitudes. Sunshine alone is not the culprit. You can do just as much damage to your skin (or in some cases even more) on a cloudy day!

5.Don’t forget sun screen for your lips. They want to be healthy too!

6.Apply your sunscreen BEFORE going outdoors and allow plenty of time for it to adequately absorb into your skin cells rather than just sitting on top of the skin.

7.Read the labels on skin care products. The truth is that some ingredients may do more harm than good. The more ingredients are listed, the more potential harm they can do to your skin.

7 Useful Skin Care Tips for Men

TIP #1. Stay away from products sold at your local pharmacy or department store. Most of the products on the shelves of these stores are not chosen based on effectiveness. They choose which ones to sell based on how much they make per unit sold, popularity, and other factors that have to do with them making a decent profit.

TIP #2. Look on the Internet for anti-aging products. On the web, you can actually learn about a product before you buy it. Secondly, you have access to products made on the other side of the world. I live in the U.S and companies don’t even have to prove that their products are safe or effective before releasing them. I’ve found that products made in New Zealand and Japan are of much higher quality.

TIP #3. Give products made by smaller companies a chance. Just because you’ve heard of a brand before doesn’t mean that make good products. It just means they spend a bunch of money of advertising. Smaller companies tend to be motivated to make effective products because if they don’t, then they go out of business! This was one of the best skin care tips for men I ever got.

TIP #4. Go with products that are made with all natural and organic ingredients. These substances are not only safer, but they also produce better results. They react well with your natural oils and moisturizers and then are accepted very well by the skin.

TIP #5. Don’t choose a product based on price. If you spend a little, your only going to get a little. The fact is that the most effective ingredients are organic and they cost money to produce. And products that work best contain high concentrations of these ingredients, which makes it even more expensive.

TIP #6. Get a product that reduces redness and inflammation. This is one of the best skin care tips for men. Since we shave every day, have larger pores than women, and are exposed more to the natural elements, our skin gets inflamed and red on a regular basis. To key to reducing inflammation is to use a product that stops or significantly reduces PGE2 production.

TIP #7. Make sure to only get products containing ingredients that address the major causes of skin aging. Anti-aging skin care tips like this is what finally enabled me to start having success with skin care products. The major causes of aging that every product should address are:

*Diminishing collagen and elastin production

*Low levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin

*Damage cause by free radicals and oxidative stress
